Why Travel Experts are still valuable in an AI-first world
2 minute read

AI has changed how travel is researched - but not how it succeeds.

AI is excellent at research;

  • Hotel reviews
  • “Best restaurants” lists
  • Top-rated guides
  • Hidden gems unearthed by algorithms

This should mean there is no need for intermediaries.  Yet the opposite is happening because at present AI;

  • Does not filter contradictory information
  • Delivers vague information if prompts are imperfect
  • Does not differentiate between reviews that are inflated, outdated or fake
  • Cannot separate glossy websites from reality
  • Provides no recourse when a choice turns out to be wrong
  • Cannot hold suppliers accountable when things fail
  • Has no insider context when things don’t go to plan

AI is very good at aggregating information but is less effective at judging operational reliability, human behaviour and what actually works IRL execution. This is why experienced B2B travel experts continue to add value because they;

  • have firsthand experience of hotels, restaurants and experiences
  • are awarewhich suppliers perform consistently
  • know the shortcuts, the risks and the common industry sleights of hand
  • step in when itineraries don't go to plan
  • protect clients from false economies and reputational risk

AI can suggest options, but it cannot take ownership. In an AI-first world, human expertise is not obsolete. If anything, it is more valuable because AI can recommend, but experts are still the ones who make it work.

Why AI Cares More About Competence Than Charm
2 minute read

A lost-luggage experience recently highlighted a hard truth for the travel industry: branding isn’t what saves you when things go wrong.

Many will have seen the headlines about IndiGo over the past couple of weeks. One of our directors was part of that - through lost luggage.

At the airport, they said all the right things.

  • The staff were polite
  • They shared their names
  • They gave me a direct number to call

Our director was reassured. Only later was it clear that they only said the things the brand trained them (very well) to say.

The missing luggage was eventually returned - after chasing and escalating. The processes didn’t solve the problem - persistence did.

IndiGo’s branding is excellent. Hello 6E. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. hashtag#IndiaByIndiGo. It’s clever, warm and engaging.

But when things go wrong, branding didn't fix the problem.

AI won’t rank you for glossy branding - it ranks you for solving problems.

Hospitality is one of the most human-intensive industries there is. Things will go wrong. People will make mistakes. Most customers understand that. What separates good businesses from the rest is not whether problems occur, but how they are handled when they do.

Great branding is important but it's invisible to algorithms. Competence at solving the problem are algorithm favourites.

In B2B travel, buyers are not asking: “Who’s nicest?”

They’re asking: “Who can actually fix this?”

The same applies whether it’s lost baggage, a delayed cruise or rerouting an entire group at short notice.

❌ The real question is never “Were they polite?”

✅ The real questions are:

"Did they know the process?”

“Did they take ownership?”

“Did they fix it?”

Credibility in the AI age is built -

  • by depth of explanation
  • by applying competence and expert ability consistently
  • by doing what you say you’ll do, every time

In an AI-first world, credibility is the new marketing.

Top 10 Reasons to Go River Cruising in Europe

Top 10 Reasons to Go River Cruising in Europe
4 minute read

If you’re dreaming of a European getaway that blends culture, comfort and charm - river cruising is the perfect way to explore. Here are 10 compelling reasons why more travellers are choosing the rivers over the roads (or skies):

1. An Intimate, Friendly Atmosphere

River cruises are wonderfully intimate – no crowds, just good company. You’ll get to know your fellow travellers over drinks, get to know the crew and feel at home from day one.

2. Breathtaking Scenery - All Day, Every Day

From fairy-tale castles to rolling vineyards, there’s always something to see. You’re gliding through Europe’s prettiest backdrops –

3. Effortless Cultural Immersion

You dock right in the centre of town, so it’s straight from ship to historic streets, local markets, and included guided tours. Plus, expect local entertainers on board to bring the region’s culture to you.

4. Unpack Once — Explore More

No more stressful transfers, flights and endless repacking. A river cruise means your hotel travels with you, covering up to four countries in just one week.

5. Exceptional Dining & Local Flavours

Meals are a highlight – think fine dining with a local twist, seasonal ingredients and regional wines expertly paired by your onboard sommelier. Come hungry.

6. Access to Hidden Gems

Big coaches can’t reach these spots – but your river ship can. You’ll discover storybook villages, secret squares, and riverside gems most tourists never see. Think cobbled lanes, local markets and chocolate-box scenery.

7. Stress-Free Travel

No need to plan daily logistics. Your cruise includes organised excursions, you can explore yourself or there’s always shopping. Or simply relax with a good book on deck.

8. Eco-Friendlier Choice

River cruising is one of the most environmentally responsible ways to travel, with some operators committed to reducing emissions and avoiding over-tourism. Plus, no flights or long coach rides. That’s a win for the planet.

9. More Variety Than Ever

From wine-themed cruises to family adventures, itineraries now span more rivers and regions than ever. Whether you're travelling solo, with friends or across generations — there’s something for everyone.

10. The Journey Is the Destination

Above all, river cruising transforms travel itself into the experience. No queues, no crowds — just comfort, connection, culture and constant discovery.

Why Veenus makes uncomfortable decisions for the benefit of our guests

Call out 'Premium Mediocre': Unbelievably too many companies (known brands too!) are still trying it on by overcharging and underdelivering. The Veenus way: We’re calling them out and insist they deliver a good version of what they promised.

Call out 'Premium Mediocre': Unbelievably too many companies (known brands too!) are still trying it on by overcharging and underdelivering. The Veenus way: We’re calling them out and insist they deliver a good version of what they promised.

Reclaiming the Essence of an 'Experience': bare minimum + 1% doesn't cut it; we aim to wow. How/why? Either you’re mass market or offering experiences. You can’t be both. The Veenus way: It’s not about louder, bigger or cheaper. It’s about value, - emotional, thoughtful and memorable value.

From Customer Service to Guest Experience: Shifting from reactive customer service to proactive guest experience. The Veenus way: We’ve empowered partners by giving them the licence and budget to offer wow. Instead of advertising bubbly (read cheap Prosecco) on our steam train, champagne was readily poured until our guests said no!

The Power of Small Details: we partner up with organisations which understand that small details make a big difference. The Veenus way: Not wanting to miss the football, I wanted a speedier than normal show around of an hotel. (Over)Hearing of my interest the experienced concierge whispered ‘still 0-0 sir’ as I walked past him 15 minutes later. This might seem a small gesture but the attention to detail, common sense and discrete communication makes us choose partners who offer this. Embracing Ownership, Rejecting Excuses: the "it's not my fault" mentality doesn't fly. It’s the 'show must go on' attitude we’re looking for The Veenus way: While we give people second chances (as they may have just had a bad day) we readily move on when they compromise the service delivery to our guests.

Why group travel isn’t just for pensioners (and why it’s brilliant)

Say the words “group travel” and chances are, you picture a line of retirees in sensible walking shoes getting excited about a well-timed “comfort stop.” But let’s set the record straight. Group travel is not only back, it’s better than ever. And yes, it’s genuinely brilliant.

Say the words “group travel” and chances are, you picture a line of retirees in sensible walking shoes getting excited about a well-timed “comfort stop.” But let’s set the record straight. Group travel is not only back, it’s better than ever. And yes, it’s genuinely brilliant.

1. Stress-free planning? Yes, please.

Planning a trip can feel like a part-time job. Hotel, transfers, timings, tickets, entrance rules. There’s a lot to think of. But with group travel, someone else has already handled all of that. You just show up, bag packed and holiday mode on.

2. Company when you want it, space when you don’t

Solo travel sounds idyllic…until you find yourself tucking into your third dinner alone, half-considering whether it’s socially acceptable to ask the waiter to join you. Group travel, on the other hand, offers ready-made company when you fancy it and a graceful escape route when you don’t. You might even strike up a new friendship, or, at the very least, share a knowing glance with someone else who thinks the guide’s jokes are a bit naff.

3. New experiences, minus the guesswork

Trying something new in an unfamiliar place can be daunting. But when someone else has vetted the experience, done the research and made sure it's not just a shiny tourist trap with a slick website, it’s a whole lot easier to relax and enjoy. You get the genuine, immersive moments without the “what have I booked?” panic.

4. Five-star fun without the five-star price

Let’s talk savings. Group travel often means group discounts. That luxurious wine tasting, guided castle tour or river cruise? It suddenly becomes a lot more affordable when you’re part of a group. You get top-shelf experiences without the top-shelf price tag.

5. Built-in support (and backup plans!)

Here’s the best bit: whatever goes wrong, there’s someone to fix it. Whether it’s your travel manager, the coach driver or that overprepared legend in the group with spare plasters and a Plan B for every possible scenario, you’re covered. It’s like travelling with your own personal safety net.

Final thought: it’s time to rethink group travel

Group trips aren't just for the older crowd. They’re for savvy travellers who want ease, value and a little camaraderie along the way. At Veenus, we curate experiences that combine the best of both worlds: structure and spontaneity, luxury and laughter.

So why not join us on the next adventure? Your future travel buddies (and that backup-planning legend) are waiting.

We handle logistics. You take the credit.

When your guests book a group package, they’re trusting that every detail will go to plan.

Behind the scenes, it can be a little more complicated. Ferries change their timetables. Weather does what it likes. Castles give you cake instead of scones. Hotels “forget” what was agreed. And meanwhile, your guests expect nothing short of perfection.

That’s where we come in.

Travel Experience Providers specialise in making you look brilliant… even when things shift under the surface.

1. We solve problems, before they become Yours

If a cruise is cancelled due to weather or your chosen crossing vanishes without warning, we don’t pass the problem to you; we fix it. Swiftly. Sensibly. Often without your guests ever knowing there was an issue in the first place.

2. Requests don’t just get note, they get actioned

That vegetarian, gluten-free, birthday-celebrating guest with a room near the lift? We confirm it. Then we check again, and again. Because when it goes wrong, it reflects on you and that’s something we’d rather avoid for everyone’s sake.

3. We know who to speak to and who will pick up the phone

From ferry companies to hotel directors, we’ve built longstanding relationships at every level. That gives us the leverage to get better rooms, solve issues faster and occasionally make the impossible happen.

4. We notice what others miss

Duplicate charges? Unclear rooming lists? Unallocated room allocations? We spot them before they snowball. It’s also up to us to negotiate where needed and keep you updated enough (never more than necessary).

5. The Guest Experience is a priority, because It’s Your reputation

We believe we’re an extension of your brand. While your client may never know we exist, they will remember how well the trip ran and how looked after they felt. That’s the bit that keeps them coming back to you.

Planning group travel can be complex… or it can be hassle-free. The Travel Experience provider is in the business of understanding what you’ve promised your guests. It’s their job to be professional, proactive and just discreet enough to let you take the glory.
